New work for Samara
Well, it's been a bit longer than I'd like since my last post but I have been a busy lady and what with it being summer and all, I've had a fair few short breaks around the country visiting friends and family. All very lovely of course and being nearly 7 months pregnant now, does make me slightly less productive but I have managed to squeeze in a few illustrations lately.
The first is one I did a little while ago was for Reform magazine. It was quite a nice illustration to do as Sav (the teenage son in this monthly column) is thinking about his heritage, being a mixture of English and Jamaican and I put together a little sketchbook, which meant I could incorporate pictures from previous illustrations.
The second piece I have done recently is another illustration for The Sunday Express magazine. I have just sent another one off today but this is the one from a couple of weeks ago:

Private View Invitation; 'BLUE SUEDE SHOES'.
We would also like to see you at our Private View at 6pm on Thursday 3rd March at Arts Depot, North Finchley, London!
Blue Suede Shoes Book and Exhibition!
For several months now the Gumbo collective have been working on a project called 'BLUE SUEDE SHOES'. Our project has involved creating a book which started off as a word-play game. To start the game one person used a well-known phrase of three words, changed one of the words and passed it on to the next person, who in turn did the same, until we had a series of 12 lines of text. The story twists and turns to produce bizarre word combinations and unexpected happenings. Each artist then responded visually to these words to produce a rich mix of images.
We are delighted that Duke press, an independent publisher based in London, have decided to publish our book for us and produce a limited edition of 120 books, which will each have a screen-printed cover and be hand-stiched by the group. They wil be available to sell at our show (of the same name) which will run at the Art's Depot in North Finchley, London from 4th March to 1st May. At the show will be A2 prints from the book alongside the book itself and Gumbo artists work for sale. There will also be lots of activities for kids so we hope to see lots of families enjoying this show as well as adults!
We really hope to see you there and please help spread the word!

Hello! Sorry it's been a little while since my last blog post, I have lots to put up but very little free time at the moment. Anyway, here is an illustration I did recently for Reform magazine. It's for the 'Single Mum' piece by Lucy Berry and in this month's installment, Lucy remembers her father and their often strained relationship. Unlike the relationship between her son and his grandfather which was very strong.

Roodica selected for Richard and Judy’s Children’s Bookclub
Wonderful news this week. Roodica The Rude and the Famous Flea Trick by Margaret Ryan, has been selected for the Richard And Judy Children's Book Club in partnership with WHSmith and The Book Trust.
It appears alongside five other books in the Read Together section, and launches today.
The Bookseller writes: "The Children’s Book Club will present six titles in the categories Read Together, Read Yourself and Fluent Reader to aid parents with selecting the best reading material for their children."
You can have a look at the full article here
Very much enjoyed illustrating the Roodica series. Very funny text. Loved scribbling all that messy hair!
Keep peeling your eyes for this in WHSmiths!

Recent work
I've just finished a couple of big projects - a new book for my Italian publisher Edizioni Corraini, and illustrations for Basel Kantonal bank annual report. Can't really post anything until they're out, but in the meantime here are a couple of recent pieces for Valore Alimentare magazine and Mother and Baby magazine. Currently working on my images for the first Gumbo book 'Blue Suede shoes', more to come on that very soon!
